The London Lions have announced Mark Clark will no longer be serving as the Head Coach for the women's side and will take on a new role within the organisation as the Senior Advisor.
This comes just 72 hours after Clark led the Lions women to another BBL Cup title in an undefeated season domestically thus far, which sees them sit on top of the table with 9 wins and 0 losses. During Clark's tenure, he helped the Lions women take home 7 titles across all WBBL Competitions and has had them on a 51-game unbeaten streak. Not to mention the success in this season's EuroCup as they made it all the playoffs.
"I want to thank Mark Clark for all that he has done for British Basketball, especially on the Women's side," said London Lions Womens' GM Vanja Cernivec. "I strongly believe that he will continue to make positive change for future basketball players in the UK, in his new senior management role with the Lions."
The Lions have also terminated their partnership with Barking Abbey, one of the top Basketball Academies in the UK. Abbey have produced an abundance of young talent and the partnership with the London Lions created a pathway for both men and women to get an opportunity to play in the BBL, WBBL or even in Europe. Some notable names include Bradley Kaboza, who signed a 4-year contract with the Lions recently, Zamoku Welche and Grace Strickland.
Very little has been said from the Lions camp in regards to the termination of the partnership.
