The Basketball Journalists Association Awards 2022

The Basketball Journalists Association Awards 2022

The Annual BJA Awards has become a staple amongst British Basketball for presenting BBL, WBBL and Brit Pros with awards for their achievements throughout the season.

Selection for the awards is based on various voices throughout the UK Basketball Media with the categories being as follows:

Syd Lipski Award For Best International British Player, Pete Jacques Award For Best British BBL Player, The BJA Men's Player Of The Year, The BJA Women's Player Of The Year and The BJA Coach Of The Year.

This year's Syd Lipski award went to Karlie Samuelson; well deserved following her championship season over in Spain with Euroleague side CB Avenida, averaging 7.3 PPG along with 2.4 REBS.

The Women's Player Of The Year went to the London Lions Joey Leedham-Warner, who's average of 15.7 PPG on 55.6% shooting has been a huge contributing factor to the London Lions undefeated season so far (25-0 at the time of writing).

The remaining 3 awards went to the Leicester Riders. Patrick Whelan took home the Pete Jacques award for Best British BBL Player, whilst Head Coach Rob Paternostro took home the award for Coach Of The Year. Geno Crandall was the recipient of the Men's Player Of The Year with averages of 13 PPG and 6.7 AST as well as 4.9 REBS.

Congrats to all the winners of this years awards.
