The second phase of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers for the 2023 competition gets underway for Team GB this week with two big fixtures. The first is an away fixture against Belgium tomorrow with tip-off scheduled at 7.30PM.
Belgium will be a tough fixture as over the years they have established themselves as one of the better basketball countries in the world. They are currently on course for the 5th EuroBasket and will be looking for even more success in the World Cup.
Head Coach of Team GB, Nate Reinking touched on the key aspects of Belgium's team that makes them so difficult to come up against.
“They’re a very experienced, disciplined, well-coached roster of players," said Reinking. "They’ve got an older group with a mix of really athletic younger guys, so there’s a nice well-rounded group there that always play hard, don’t make mistakes and they play well together."
This fixture will then be followed up by a game against Latvia on Sunday which will be played at the homecourt of the Newcastle Eagles, The Vertu Motors Arena.
Tip-off for this game will be scheduled for 6PM and both games will be available to stream on Courtside 1891.
