Reading Rockets Apply For The British Basketball League For The 22'/23' Season

The Reading Rockets are one of the UK's most well known basketball clubs and have seen plenty of success at National League Division 1 level, the second highest level of professional basketball in the UK. Now, they look to move onwards and upwards as they have sent through their application to join the BBL for the 22'/23' season.

The family-ran side had their application in 2012 rejected due to their facilities not being up to BBL standard and have been aiming for this transition for a number of seasons. According to Hoopsfix, the Reading Rockets are targeting Loddon Valley as their new home court.

With a team full of world class sports business people, including former BBF Chair and CFO for Manchester United and the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association), Nick Humby and ex-FIBA and NFL marketer Joe Edwards, who is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for the Super League Triathalon, the future is most definitely looking promising for the Rockets.

“I’m excited about the team we’ve brought together from diverse businesses and professions, but all heavily linked to basketball for decades,” Gary Johnson, chairman of the Reading Rockets said, per Hoopsfix. "These are exciting times for Rockets, the town, and the sport.”
