NBA, Mayor Of London & Basketball England Announce New £1.1 Million Coaching Programme

The game continues to grow. The NBA, Mayor Of London and Basketball England announced a £1.1 Million coaching project for aspiring young coaches from the country's capital. 

The announcement came at an event which featured NBA Hall Of Famer Allen Iverson, London Lions guard Shanice Beckford-Norton, the Mayor Of London Sadiq Khan and the NBA Europe and Middle East Managing Director, Ralph Rivera. The event also played host to 20 local kids who were lucky enough so get some coaching from The Answer himself as well as Beckford-Norton and other coaches who were amongst the 200 aspiring coaches invited. 

 

 

The "London Coaches Programme" will be a collaboration project that will take place over the next two years, to help provide the next generation of coaches with the knowledge and skills they need in order to help elevate the game from the grassroots level and upwards. 

"London is now the sporting capital of the world, from grassroots to the elite level and it all starts with our top talent receiving the best coaching possible," said Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London. "I look foward to seeing the results of this collaboration in the months and years to come as we help build a better London for everyone."
