London Lions Women Confirmed For 22'/23' EuroCup Regular Season

London Lions Women Confirmed For 22'/23' EuroCup Regular Season

The London Lions organisation will now have both their sides competing in Europe next season, as the women have been confirmed for the 22'/23' EuroCup Regular Season for a second consecutive season.

As is with the men's competition, the EuroCup is regarded as the second-tier of European club basketball competition, with the EuroLeague taking the top spot. Just last season, the EuroCup was home to a host of WNBA talent, including Kelsey Plum who played at Galatasaray, Iliana Rupert who played for Bourges, Tiffany Hayes who played at Cukurova along with Dewanna Bonner and British star Temi Fagbenle.

This will be the first time in the two years that the Lions are eligible for the regular season without qualification. As well as the impressive quadruple in domestic competition from Mark Clark's side, the Lions made a statement against European competition last season, with big wins against Gran Canaria over two legs in the qualifying rounds and a historic upset against the would be 2022 EuroCup Champions Bourges at Crystal Palace, before their run was ended in France.

Although the Lions will be without Joey Leedham-Warner who announced her retirement following the end of the 2021-2022 season, they will still be expected to do well maintaining the majority of their core group from their winning side.

The draw for next season is expected to happen next week, with a guaranteed 6 group stage fixtures for the Lions.
