London Lions Claim Their First WBBL Title

The London Lions have officially been crowned as the 2021/2022 WBBL Champions following their win over the Essex Rebels earlier on today, pushing their record to 23-0 claiming the title with an unbeaten record.

From start to finish the game was always in favour of the Lions as they got out to an early 13-0 lead and never looked back.

They were led by the performances of Azania Stewart (16 PTS/14 REBS) and Joey Leedham-Warner (15 PTS/8 REBS).

Speaking in a post-game interview, Head Coach Mark Clark spoke on the success of his team: "How do you feel when you win a championship; that's the thing that tells you how good you are the for the whole season, That's when you go to work everyday and at the end of the day, you've done it for the whole year, which is a great feeling, and it's down to a lot of great people."

Lions PG Kennedy Leonard also spoke on what is means to win a title: "Any time you win a Championship, it's an exciting feeling, but like Mark said, we have one more game on Sunday, so we're going to have a quick turnaround and get ready for that."

The Lions have one more game to play to keep their unbeaten record which they will no doubt aim to do, before preparing for the playoffs this year.
