The first-ever Hoopsfix Pro Am Summer League began today and provided a high level of competitive summer basketball for the spectators to enjoy watching and players to enjoy playing in.
The first two games were the women's matchups between Team Diamond against Team Ruby, followed by Team Emerald against Team Sapphire. Game 1 saw Team Diamond come out on top with a double-digit victory, winning 62-45. They were led by Lindsey Cleary who had 20 points in the game. Game 2 was won by Team Emerald who were led by the performance of Jenelle Grant who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The next four fixtures were the men's games would start off with the Glacier Boys against CoLA. This was then followed up by the most competitive fixture of the day between HoopSpace and Thames Valley Cavaliers. The Glacier Boys took the first win of the men's matchups with a 13 point victory led by Ciaran Sandy who had a near double-double; 12 points and 7 rebounds. HoopSpace were then able to hold off TVC in a highly-competitive matchup, which was highlights galore. Kayne Henry, fresh off an NCAA March Madness run with Jacksonville State University, let if fly from long range and rarely missed. He ended up with 16 points and led HoopSpace to a 2 point victory over TVC.
The final two fixtures of the day saw Worthing Thunder take on Run & Jump, followed by Elite Bulldogs against London United. Led by Kyle Carey's 21 points and barrage of 3 pointers, Run & Jump were able to overcome a tough Worthing Thunder side, whilst the Elite Bulldogs won a close one over London United behind a 14 point performance from the Plymouth Patriot's Elvisi Dusha.
